Alaska Primary Care Association
Advancing Health Policy & Education
Together with Alaska’s Community Health Centers and community organizations, the Alaska Primary Care Association’s Government Affairs team works to expand education that supports health policy initiatives at both the state and national levels.
APCA works to elevate the voice of Health Centers and other safety-net healthcare organizations, working closely with CHC leaders to set annual legislative priorities and develop strategies to achieve those goals.
APCA hosts an annual Juneau Fly-In and a national Fly-In in conjunction with the National Association of Community Health Centers, providing opportunities to educate lawmakers and government officials about the CHC model, payment structures, and Alaska’s medical safety net. Through this work, APCA helps advance whole-person care, a strong healthcare workforce, and healthcare policy.
At the state level, APCA works closely with the Alaska State Legislature, the Alaska Department of Health, and a range of state and local health organizations. At the federal level, APCA maintains strong working relationships with Alaska’s federal delegation and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
