Mat-Su Health Services is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Provider to join our team!

Summary:  Under the general supervision of the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is responsible for providing direct primary care services and consultation with the clinical, medical, and psychiatric staff.

  • Provides direct team-based primary care services.
  • Provides quality assessments and treatment of clients.
  • Provides medication management and monitoring of clients.
  • Provides clinical supervision of other staff participating in the client's care.
  • Assists in meeting the needs of other patients when the primary Clinician is unavailable.
  • Dispenses medications according to federal and state regulations and practice standards.
  • Provides medication information, both written and verbal, to clients and staff when appropriate.
  • Keeps and maintains appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered and attends to all billing reports, claims, and correspondence required in connection with the services rendered.
  • Maintains status as a provider under and in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Medicare and Medicaid programs, managed-care and direct contracting arrangements, and any other programs in which the Clinic participates.
  • Abides by the schedule of hours formulated by the Clinic.
  • Cooperates with other employees in all reasonable manners.
  • Maintains confidentiality of individual’s health records and information as required by law.
  • Performs in a diligent and timely manner such duties as set forth by this description.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures for Agency programs.
  • Provide training and educational seminars to Agency staff.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed onsite in a heated, ventilated, and well-lighted environment.
  • Job is considered low-risk for hazard exposure.
  • MSHS is a nonsmoking campus.

  • Requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching, lifting under 50 lbs., and driving.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate standard office and other equipment.
  • Requires normal hearing range, ability to speak, and vision acuity.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Degree from an accredited University. 
  • Current Alaska Advance Practice Registered Nurse license.
  • Current prescriptive qualifications under the Controlled Substances Registration Certificate requirements of the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
  • Have general knowledge of EMR/EHR software and Microsoft Office programs

Physician Assistant

  • Physician Assistant Degree from an accredited University. 
  • Current Alaska Physician Assistant’s license.
  • Current approved Collaborative Plan recognized by the Alaska State Medical Board.
  • Have general knowledge of EMR/EHR software and Microsoft Office programs

General Requirements:

  • Clear background check (subject to DHSS background check)
  • Current tuberculosis screening test result
  • Current driver’s license; clean driving record history
  • BLS certification must be obtained within two weeks of hire. CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification must be obtained when offered through the agency; it may substitute the current MANDT certificate for CPI.
