Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for planning and administering physical therapy treatment plans designed to alleviate pain, restore function, prevent disabilities, and promote overall fitness and health of patients. Services may be provided in both a clinical and school environment.

JOB DUTIES

  • Provides skilled physical therapy treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results of patients.
  • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending follow-up programs.
  • Promptly and thoroughly documents and maintains clinical and administrative records regarding patient limitations/interventions, treatments, responses and progress to administered therapy as well as discharge summaries.
  • Maintain patient records confidentially.
  • Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in accurate and timely manner.
  • Supervises and directs Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Aides in direct patient care and related activities as requested.
  • Complies with the Alaska State Physical Therapy statues, codes and regulations.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
  • Maintain work area, exam rooms and supplies.
  • Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Follows all of Copper River Native Association policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to employer work practices as described in TDC Occupational Blood Born Exposure Plan policy.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Copper River Native Association physicians, staff and management.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Copper River School District staff and management.
  • Keep regular clinic hours as approved by Manager.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

  • Graduate from an accredited physical therapy program.
  • Current Alaska State Physical Therapist license.
  • One year as a Physical Therapist or comparable internship.

Other Requirements (Education & Experience)

  • Certification/Licensure: CPR certification for Health Care Providers.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of physical therapy principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs and/or electronic health record systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Maintain current CPR.
  • Maintain current Alaska State licensure for physical therapy.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
  • Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid State of Alaska drivers license.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.

Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.

Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service, including injections. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

The majority of work is performed in a setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. CRNA is a smoke free and tobacco free campus. May require local travel between compact services of CRNA and transporting community members as needed, which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided where/when needed.

SPECIFICATIONS

Supervision Received:

Work will be monitored through meetings, reports, and regular communication with the immediate supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and the general policies and procedures of CRNA.

Supervision Exercised:

Position will not exercise supervision.

Contacts:

Contacts include and not limited to volunteers, organizational staff, clients, and outside agencies.

CONDITIONS OF HIRE

  • CRNA is a no tolerance workplace. All employees must pass an initial and random drug and alcohol screening to be eligible for and maintain employment.
  • CRNA has several positions that require a criminal background check for the safety of our clients. All employment offers in the covered classification are conditional until CRNA has received a Federal criminal background check verifying eligibility to work in these programs.
  • First Aid/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire for required positions.
  • As applicable by position and company policy, must meet standards for fitness for duty, immunizations, credentialing and privileging.
